Technology Issues

The holidays have come and gone and January is in its last weeks; the time has swiftly passed.  The last four months have been a technology nightmare.  My computer got a serious virus and in an instant before my eyes my files, photos and everything disappeared.  I felt my heart sink.  My thoughts were I should of backed up those files,  After a few days of trying to fix this problem myself I decided to take my computer to a certain store to have them try to retrieve my files, and get rid of the virus.  Three weeks later I picked up my computer and it appeared my files were found, it also appeared the virus was still doing something to my computer.  Encountering problem after problem and not wanting to take my computer back to this store I ended up wiping my entire computer clean and started from scratch.  Technology is wonderful when it works but when it starts acting up it can be a big pain! Hopefully my technology nightmare is over for now and I can move on.

Good Times, Re-Connecting and a New Found Appreciation

Last week a friend of mine called and said she was going to be in Laughlin, Nevada for a Talent Quest.  She is very into Karaoke.  At first I thought...Why would I want to go watch that?  Then I found myself excited to take a spontaneous road trip.  I grabbed an old friend who was visiting from Iowa (her sister) and I drove to Laughlin.  Three exciting nights of Karaoke.  After the first hour I thought to myself there is no way I am going to be able to handle Three nights of this.  But let me tell you I was Blown Away about how talented these people were.  It was amazing and my friend made it into the Semi-Finals - WOW....what a performance everyone put on.  And let me just tell you this was the 50 and over group I was seeing.  Well...sad to say she did not make it to the finals but we all went to see the final show and it was all age groups. AMAZING people........My favorite performance was by a young guy maybe in his early twenties - he did Michael Jackson - he had the voice, the moves, the clothes.....and the audience went nuts over him and I was so happy when he won first place in his category.

I am so mad because I was so excited about going I forgot my camera - so NO PHOTOS but lots of good memories.  There were five of us in all and we met some very nice, amazing people during our stay. There were people from all over competing.   And I can say I have a New Found Appreciation for those who are serious about Karaoke.

Music, Football and Fireworks

This past weekend was a blast.  It was SDSU's High School Band Day at Qualcom Stadium.  My husband and I are band parents that are very involved.  While the students were busy doing their thing.....my husband BBQ'd some hamburgers and hot dogs and us parents had our own tailgate.  We watched SDSU win against Washington State, saw SDSU perform at halftime, then SDSU and 16 High Schools took the field.....what a great performance they put on, then the military band came out and performed.  A little more football and then it was time for the KGB Skyshow!  What a great show it was.  My photos are not the best, still getting used to this new camera...maybe I should get out the manual.
