Well ....I am happy to say that half of my anxiety about my sons trip to Washington D.C. is over and I am feeling much better. He called me at 3:12am to let me know the plane landed safely. When I asked him how his flight was he replied in a very tired and excited voice " Well....if you call being on a HOT plane with no air, not being able to sit by any of your classmates and having no sleep then it was fine.
This past Friday ~ Getting up early for school, coming home getting ready and getting to the airport 3 hours before their flight took off at 10:30pm and arriving at 3:12am and still having to take a 2 or 3 hour bus ride to their destination with little or no sleep. Starting their tour right away and spending all day and night until approximately 11:00 tonight no wonder why I have anxiety!! Hopefully the rush from being over excited about this trip will keep all those kids going. I am hoping the camera made it out of sons backpack and he remembered to take photos.
Our son will be leaving soon for Washington, D.C. with his eighth grade class. I have been a nervous wreck just thinking about it. I am one of those people who always thinks "What if". I worry about the flight there, the bus rides to their destinations, their dinner cruise on the Potomac. I tell myself to stop....take a deep breath and am fine for a moment. Then I start thinking about his food allergies. Although he is very aware and leary of food he eats it scares me to think he will be eating places he has never eaten before. What if......oh gosh. He has his Epi-pen and we have gone over this a zillion times since he was two. He is a very responsible 13 year old and I know he will be just fine. I try not to show that I am worried but I can't hide that fact from my husband or my son. They tell me to stop worrying and that everything will be fine. Easier said than done. I suppose I am going to have to keep myself very busy while he is gone - maybe this is a good time to get to all those projects I have been putting off.
Another old book found. ART OF DRESSMAKING by The Butterick Publishing Company New York Copyright 1927. Although I am not a person who sews, this book is interesting to me. I did take sewing in Home Economics way back when. I found an outfit I made in school that my mother had saved in an old trunk while cleaning things out but I will save that for another post. And I have the teddy bear I sewed; I remember having fun making him. Other than sewing a button on or repairing a stitch or two I am not much into sewing. This book has a total of 255 pages and 31 Chapters. The last three chapters talk about cleaning, laundering and remodeling. Remodeling?? In the cleaning portion it talks about how to remove various spots etc. Grease-spots on woolen or silk may be removed by naphta, gasoline, ether or chloroform.......Yikes....that sounds lethal!
I will look this book over for a while and decide if I will get rid of it or keep it just because. I am still trying to find a way to get rid of that "Old Smell".
Last night my husband and I dropped our son off at a friends birthday party and then we went out to dinner. After dinner we went over to the local Walmart to look around. We were looking at cameras when a young girl approached my husband and said "My friend is getting married; is there any advise you can give her?" My husband turns and says "We're NOT married" and started laughing. (My husband - the jokester). The girl went running over to her friend red faced and said they aren't even married!" They were all wearing hats and headbands that said they were having a bachelorette party. HUH??? My husband turned to me and said "Why would anyone have their bachelorette party at Walmart"??? I just looked at him and shrugged my shoulders. Is this the new thing?? Hmmmm......They seemed to be having fun - I guess that is what matters most.
Last week I visited one of my favorite shops in Coronado ~ The Attic. I purchased this "T" typewriter key Necklace and I just love it. If you have never visited this shop please do. It is the cutest shop filled with wonderful things.
As for my latest craving it is Greek Yogurt...... but not just plain... I must add some mixed frozen berries, less than a handful of granola, a dripping of honey and a sprinkle of cinnamon. Mix it all together and your have a yummy breakfast or snack.
Happy Friday! Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
Trying to get over the winter blahs I purchased some strawberries over the weekend in the local supermarket. I did not realize how large these were until I took them out to wash them up. Wow....I will cut them up and sprinkle a little sugar on them and let them rest in the frig. They will be yummy over a slice of angel food cake and a dallop of whip cream.
