Interesting Fruit

I was watching the food channel last night and they were talking about this plant ~ A Buddha's Hand.  Hmmm never heard of this or seen it before.  It is a fragrant citron variety whose fruit is segmented into finger like sections.  It grows on a shrub or small tree with long, irregular branches covered in thorns.  I was not listening completely to what they were saying but remember them saying they were somewhere in Northern California where they grow it.  A vodka company uses it in the process to make their vodka - no...don't remember which brand. I thought it was interesting. Have you ever seen or heard of this fruit before?  I must go read more about it.

Friday Night Dinner

Friday nights around here have gotten a little hectic.  I can not spend hours cooking so tonight we will have stuffed jumbo pasta shells.  I have just finished putting this together so this evening I will just need to pop it into the oven until warm and bubbly.  Jumbo pasta shells, ricotta cheese, 1 egg (hope it is not on the recall list!) Italian sausage, mozzarella cheese, fresh shredded Parmesan cheese, parsley, thyme and nutmeg, spaghetti sauce.  I filled the shells using a pastry bag - so much easier than filling by hand.  I will add a nice green salad and there you have it a quick yummy Friday night dinner.

Enjoy your Friday night and have a wonderful weekend!

Say it isn't so

They say after Labor Day summer is over.  Can it be true?  In Southern California summer felt like it never really began.  With temperatures cooler than they have been in years and a very busy schedule; I feel like summer whizzed by in a blink of an eye.  This past weekend was nice; my sons first performance in the marching band at the High School football game.  All  I can say is wow......what a performance and seeing your child in that uniform for the first time.....it just brought tears to my eyes!  Saturday was warm with temperatures reaching 100 and I spent the entire day in the backyard enjoying the last days of swimming, sun and the view of all my beautiful plants and flowers.  With a BBQ in the evening, the day was perfect.
Hope you all had a wonderful Labor Day Weekend.  Enjoy your week!
